Hello! I'm Michelle Wright. I anchor the morning news for WTAE TV in Pittsburgh.


News Anchor Michelle is a very familiar face in Western Pennsylvania. As one of the longest tenured anchors in the Pittsburgh market she anchors WTAE Action News This Morning and writes and reports daily medical news. Michelle has reported live from the scene on the region's biggest news stories including: The Flight 93 crash in Shanksville on 9/11, the Quecreek Mine rescue, and the G-20 Summit. Michelle co-founded the high school project Is TV For You?, an all day seminar for high school students. She is also a contributing reporter for WQED public television, is an adjunct professor at La Roche College and writes for Gladys Magazine. Michelle also hosts workshops on a variety of topics including Handling Criticism, The Value of Communication, and How to Juggle Busy Schedules Without Dropping What Matters Most. Michelle's position has allowed her to develop positive relationships with some of Western Pennsylvania's most influential people. She routinely interviews the region's local, state, and national legislative leaders as well as the area's most talented medical doctors, surgeons, and researchers. She has also interviewed some of the world's most fascinating people such as Oprah Winfrey, Sidney Crosby, Peter Jennings, Dan Rooney, Jim Rohr, Barbara Bush, Troy Polamalu, President Jimmy Carter, soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, Teresa Heinz Kerry, Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, Governor Tom Corbett, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, and Space Shuttle commander astronaut Michael Fincke.   Not only has Western Pennsylvania come to know and trust Michelle for her anchoring and health reporting but also for her participation in many charity events. In addition to emceeing countless fundraisers and award galas, Michelle serves as the media spokesperson for Race for the Cure, Project Bundle Up, Fayette County Health Fair, The Emmaus Community, National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI), and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Achieva, and The Early Learning Institute.  Michelle has been honored with three Regional Emmy Awards, a National Headliners Award, an Edward R.
